Stepping advances the simulation by exactly one scan cycle, which is useful for debugging.
Using the toolbar (button):
Click Step Simulation in the Sequence Explorer view title bar to advance one cycle.
Using the keyboard:
Press F10.
Using the Command Palette:
Press Ctrl+Shift+P (or Cmd+Shift+P on Mac) and run AutomationView: Step Simulation.
